This is to bring in the notice of concerned authorities about the case of a fellow student Rajiv Saxena of EFL University, Lucknow campus. Rajiv saxena is a student of EFL University, Lucknow campus. He is presently enrolled in the M.Phil programme. A case has been filled aganist him in the hazratganj police station by one of his classmates Ysaha Joshi. Rajeev and Yasha are two M.Phil students at the Lucknow Campus. They have been seen together mostly everywhere on the campus as well as outside the campus. Yasha has recently complained that on 29th November Rajeev shouted at her and slapped her. She added that one of her ear-drums was damaged due to this. Though the incident took place on 29th November, Yasha lodged a complaint at the EFLU Lucknow Campus only after around 20 days, on 19 December. She and her mother further wrote to the VC on 3 January. Meanwhile Rajeev went home, and when he came back to the campus on 12, he was given a memo with probably three days time to explain. But on 12th itself, she and her mother went to the police, and Rajeev was arrested by the police by 6 in the evening just inside the campus gate. He was charged under section 306/308, 326 and 508 probably. Next day he failed to get bail and he was taken to jail for three months. At present he is in the jail, and all the charges have been already registered against him. Rajeev is an OBC student, coming from a hand-to-mouth poor family. His parents are unable to afford any legal expenses, and they hardly have any legal knowledge. Yasha is from a Brahmin family. It may be believed that the whole incident might be due to caste insult rather than anything else. This problem could have been resolved at the university campus itself, by taking appropriate action on the accused after due enquiry. But why did the campus administration refuse to do that By not acting on the first complaint, did the local administration help (or lead) Yasha and her mother to the police level Though Rajeev is an M.Phil student, he was not given the non-net fellowship by the campus authority. Though he made requests, the campus authority refused to give him the fellowship. Yasha was not ready to ask for it at all. Rajeev finally got the fellowship only by the end of November after the intervention of the Vice Chancellor. It is reasonable to think that the authorities here do not and will not bother for Rajeev. The grudge against Rajeevâs approaching the VC could have been very much there. And since the VC has intervened in this case as well, it may be that the campus administration liked that the case itself needed to go out of the university (). Rajeev has been apologetic and would accept any action which the university would take on him. It is sure that anyone from a well-to-do family would have saved himself, or managed a bail in similar situations. What is more atrocious is the way campus administration mishandled the situation. we the Students of the university are with him at the hour of need. this petition will be forwarded to the voice chancelor of the University, so that the guy is rescued.
