Name: Anonymous on Mar 12, 2007Comments: The parking situation in Irvine is more than just an annoyance but a safety hazard as well. The place where I work is relatively far from Irvine but I live and go to school out here. Often times I get home late and if there were no guest spots when my roommates got home and are none when I do, I have to park quite far from my apartment and walk it in because all of the streets around my complex are no parking. There doesn't appear to be any real reason why the streets I live by cannot be parked on during the day or night. They are extremely wide and can still allow for drivers to travel down them regardless of whether there are cars parked on the side or not. There have been times when I have had to walk 15 to 20 minutes from my car to my apartment which doesn't seem like a big deal until you realize that it is typically between the hours of 11:00PM and 2:00AM when this happens and I am a female. This is not a safe situation and it could be remedied by simply allowing parking on streets during the day and night and by creating more parking in the city, particularly around the University.Flag

I come late-after being dropped off by a friend-from a night of drinking expecting to give my wife a nice little backhand, only to find my Aston Martin being towed. Of course, I'm only even more infuriated so I give my daughter the good ole' right cross. Please fix UCI parking; please save my family from myself.Flag

Name: Danielle Kushman on Mar 14, 2007Comments: it's impossible to park in irvine with out paying for some sort of parking permit. this makes it extremely difficult to have visitors of any sort, especially where i live in Vista Del Campo because the closest parking for visitors is at the Albertson's parking lot, which is near a mile away, and even there they risk being towed. Vista Del Campo says it has visitory parking spots, but there are only 14 for the entire complex of several hundred people. the bottom line is that if you live here with a car and without a permit of some sort you're basically out of luck for parking and most likely will get towed at some point. Having visitors is nearly impossible.Flag
