Starting Summer 2013, the City of Riverside has passed several ordinances, including: the social host ordinance, 4 renter limitordinance(permit required for 3rd & 4th renter) and the moratorium to modify houses, all of which may have adverse effects on the student body of UCR. Currently, a few UCR students and ASUCR (student government) members are pursuing the possibility of bringing a student space whereby student organizations can have their own housing.

But before we even look into the different options, we are asking the community if you support us exploring the following possibilities. By signing the petition, you give us a go-ahead to explore the different alternative options.

I support our student and community leaders in exploring the following possibilities:

1) Working with the City to amend the city's housing zoning code to accommodate for off campus student housing, including housing for student organizations and Title IX Exempt Organizations* (AKA Fraternities and Sororities).

2) Working with the University to create Student Organization & Title IX Exempt Organization* (Fraternity and Sorority) Housing through University Housing

3) Working with community businesses to create Student Organization & Title IX Exempt Organization* (Fraternity and Sorority) Housing through Duplex/Multi-dwelling Housing Management Agencies

*Fraternities and Sororities are Title IX exempt, which means that they are not forced to bring in opposite-sex individuals.http://www.fspac.org/fgrc/title_ix_and_freedom_of_association/
