Grattan PuxonMr Chassain, I have three times attended the Pilgramage in Les Saintes Maries and cannot imagine this festival without music in the streets. Please reconsider your ban, discuss the matter with Romani representatives and come to some better agreement. Many of us in Britain (350,000 Romani population) look to your town as one of the centres of our heritage and culture. Grattan Puxon Gypsy Council (founded 1966)

Toujours ! S'il vous plait, Monsieur ! (J'etais visiter Auschwitz 1958. Je suis non Juif, non Roma. J'etais a Les Saintes Maries 1970s.).

Dr.Chris GriffinBanning Roma music from the streets during the pilgrimage period would not only 'kill' the spirit of the event, it would run counter to the fact that musical celebration and 'fun' are ancient universal counterparts to the very concept of pelerinage. Sure, some civic guidelines, could be set down, but it would be a shame if it went further.

Mike CullenIt's a basic fundamental human right, making music, and it's outrageous that it should ever be banned anywhere. Music is free speech.
Fedosova TatianaGipsy music is very beautiful. It is necessary to keep it for art!
Mark LeVineAs a professor of music and culture, I can say with authority that Gypsy music is one of the most important forms of music in the world. To ban its performance is a crime and a sign of extreme prejudice against one of Europe's least understood, most prejudiced and marginalized social groups

FERNANDO OLMOSDear Sir, I am an Australian/Chilean flamenco guitarist that is planning to visit your township and people soon. In order for me to fulfill my trip I was hoping to experience the gipsy music and culture of the area, along with some friends. Please do not band your local people from playing music on the streets. It is the life and blood of these people to survive from tourism and from their passion and music. I implore you to please reconsider and allow gipsy music to continue. Thank you
John P GreeneIt is imperative the music continues. Foreign travelers to your city EXPECT it. Many are there BECAUSE of it.

Andrealike in any culture there are some that make it bad for the good one's. the gypsy people are some of the most beautiful people I know. and there music come's from the heart . I am a hungarian gypsy and my people are acomplished musian's. and once you meet a gypsy you wil never forget them.
Pauline PadfieldMusic needs to be played and heard - hope Gypsy people can continue to play their music in a spontaneous way around this festival.

colin stewarttraditions must be respected by and for all of us who are freethinking Europeans this would be tragic to ban such a vibrant and spiritual event
Steve WohlThe practice of "playing in the streets" of your town during the gathering of the Roma preserves their music as well as enables them to cross pollinate different new influences. This is a unique opportunity your town offers them. The results of incalculable value. Please restore and preserve this feature of the gathering of the Roma. Thank you for your efforts!
