Congress is able to give themselves free money. No one in America can do that, not even the president. I believe for checks and balances to work correctly, the ability to give raises should be taken out of their hands and given to the Supreme Court. They interpret laws and they should have he ability to decide whether Congress deserves more money in their pockets. Especially now that the country is in a financial 'disagreement'.
