Comments: It is not safe for anyone when it is pitch black, there are other ways to save electricity and the council should be identifying those ways rather than putting people's health and safety in danger.

Comments: Surely every other light could be turned off at certain times as a compromise to save money and ensure safety? Pitch black streets are clearly not a good idea.

Comments: The lights need to be switched back on NOW. What happened to putting the people's safety first? It's absolutely ridiculous - this attack should never have happened. The council can't go back in time and change it, but they CAN stop this (or something worse) from happening again in the future. TURN THE LIGHTS BACK ON NOW!

Comments: As much as my eye finds it more aesthetically pleasing to walk home in half the amount of light to which we are usually subjected, and that too much street lighting can prove to be an astronomical interference, I completely see Harriet's point of view. I was the victim of an attempted mugging back in November 2011. Fortunately, I managed to get away unharmed and the degenerates involved didn't manage to get anything. Sufficient light proved a valuable asset in my escape, as well as describing my attackers to the police. In this day and age, adequate street is almost essential, not only for public safety, but to help to deter criminals from carrying out such offences. This petition is most definitely supporting a worthwhile cause and I am proud to say I've supported it. C

Comments: I do not feel safe in my own village when it is dark as it is. It's asking for trouble, of which was proven the other night when 2 girls were attacked of my age. The whole idea was ridiculous in the first place. Street lights are there for a reason.
