A string of calamitous decisions by our head councillor Tony Troughton has culminated in the installation of a traffic light system on Straight Road, Old Windsor. This all stems from the pedestrianisation of the local shops a few years back, which forced all traffic to use just one junction. This, inevitably, led to tragedy when a local resident was killed earlier this year. This has triggered Troughton to impose a 30mph speed limit on the road as well as install a set of traffic lights on a 3 month trial basis. It has only been a matter of days since the installation and the lights are already causing havoc for anyone driving through Old Windsor. If every single one of us can see within a few days that these lights are a bad idea, it beggars belief that the council need 3 months to make up their mind.
