Name: Anonymous on May 25, 2006State: ILCountry: USComments: Children need their summers for growing, having fun and a break from the stresses of school. By the end of summer, a lot of chilcren are ready to go back to school. I have enough trouble trying to find child care during the summer. Can you imagine how hard it would be to find child care during three week breaks If the school system can not teach the children what they need to in the 9 months they attend now, why do they think all year school,(with the same amount of teaching days) would make any difference If the school system wants all year school, they will have to provide free or affordable day care for the 3 week breaks and programs that would address the social and physical needs of the children. So, if you want to make the 3 week breaks fun by providing activities like picnics, swimming, camping, bike riding, backpacking, trips to Six Flags, horse back riding, canoeing, fishing, bowling, water parks, miniature golf ect, like parents do during the summer months, then you would have something to offer the parents and the children.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Mar 19, 2007State: MNCountry: USComments: summer should be a time for fun and play where you don't have to worry about homework due or breaking rules in school. Where you can stay up late and take long trips without the dreaed of school.sports you can play people to visit. schoolshouldn't be year round it's unhealthy and when you could be out on a long summer vaca your instead stuck in school! SCHOOL SUCKS AND IT SHOULD BE SHORTER!Flag

Name: Mary Smith on Mar 26, 2007State: NMCountry: USComments: I think from a kids view that we need summer to have time off from school and teachers. I usually go on long vacation trips with my family so we can caught up with each other after school lets out. We go and visit our family on the west coast because we don't see them often. My uncle is always traveling to different countries and he is only off in the summer. It is only march and I am still marking down the days until summer vacation. SOS, save our summers. PS if the kids and china are reading this right now I feel bad for u because you do have year round school. :]Flag

I believe that doing this is really dumb and summer is used for a well needed break, not sitting in school in which we don't have any air conditioning.Flag

Name: Deborah Veater on May 29, 2007State: UTCountry: USComments: We have been in year-round schools from day one and have hated every minute of it. It is not a family oriented way of education but it is an administrators way of education. It is not for the children, just for the money or the statistics. I have three years left and have been doing it for 13 years. I haven't discovered a way to fight the administration yet but there sure are a lot of parents that hate it.Flag
