This time, the forces of fascism control the US hyperpower, virtually the entire world economy and military, and no FDR or Churchill is in sight to stop them.Flag

Name: Stephanie Wells on Mar 18, 2003State:Country: CAComments: There is no proof of a link between Iraq and Al Qaeda. While it seems clear that Hussein is a dreadful and oppressive leader, he does not pose a threat to the outside world. His country has been seriously weakened since the last Gulf War and the sanctions against Iraq, its citzens have suffered for more than a dozen years. What gives the US and its few allies the right to target this one country's leaders, when there are several really oppressive leaders and dangerous countries elsewhere on the planet. Will this invasion of Iraq be just the first of many invasions And who will set the criteria for invasions and regime changes. Where will we be if the UN system is not respectedFlag

Name: Joyce Milliken on Mar 18, 2003State: CTCountry: USComments: My brother was KIA in WWII. I have lost many dear friends on battle fields since then. My husband served in the Air Force, we were proud (but not totally comfortable with the polocies forming here) to be serving our country during the Korian "non-war",and I protested the VietNam conflict very early on. All this time I knew that the UN MUST BE SUSTAINED AND DEVELOPED INTO A BODY OF STRENGH. It is in a spirit of patriotism and humble prayer for the well-being of our troups that I beg the UN to stop us in our violent ways, before we unleash WWIII!Flag

Name: David Sauter on Mar 18, 2003State: KYCountry: USComments: I urge you to stop the aggression of the United States, United Kingdom and Spain. This preemptive strike and act of aggression is against international law and the U.N. has the responsibility and obligation to use every tool it has at its authority to prevent this act of aggression from happening. Otherwise, the U.N. will lose the legitimacy it has and will be complicit in the preemptive strike as an act of omission. Please, implement Resolutions 377 and 1325. The U.N. must unify for peace. We know this going to happen and it is the U.N.'s duty to take a stand against the U.S. and U.K. Sincerely, David C. SauterFlag

Name: Erik Bataller on Mar 18, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: First of all I agree with all the requests of this petition. I appreciate all the effort and energy by those who have tried to stop the US from starting a unilateral war against Iraq and the world. The UN needs to do more against one of it's rogue members during this time of global crisis. I believe that if the UN is to remain an effective body and if any country wishes to retain it's sovereignty and protect the liberties and freedoms for the world community it is time to do more. Sending peace keeping forces to Iraq and developing economic sanctions against the US for it's unilateral threats to world peace is critical. Another against the war efforts against Iraq. By occupying Iraqi territories via the United Nations, the world could have stricter control over the government of Iraq as well as improve the state of the country. Flooding the economy with money to disarm their military and create/improve the state of the people would not only aid Iraq, but it would be a peaceful bargaining chip for the oil that the United States so desperately desires. Not only would Iraq/Saddam's army be crippled, but the long occupation of Iraq by the United Nations would ensure that any unaccounted for weapons of mass destruction could be found and destroyed. Essentially, this would mean that the government of Iraq's power would be severely reduced but if the United Nations can actually improve the nation and not just cripple it, by the end of the 2-5 year stint of occupation, Iraq should be able to once again be free of occupation and able to function as its own peaceful nation. Despite one of the most belligerent campaigns of misinformation ever by USA government officials, the great majority even in the USA do not want war without U.N. approval, and the overwhelming majority around the world do not want such a war. The actions of my nation's leaders, i am extremely sorry to say, threaten the entire planet. Please, PLEASE act to stop them!Flag
