Thank you for stepping up for our cause. I agree 100% on your OSHA comment. I work in a blue, dust filled paper mill. OSHA says it's OK. Same thing. Here is a letter I JUST wrote to WI. Speaker Huebsch: March 9, 2008 Dear Speaker Huebsch I am very new to politics and have not been following along until just after 9-11. I just read your letter titled: Taxing our way out of a spending problem… and it sounds like you are in tune with your constituents. I have always been a Democrat because I am a blue collar worker. However, I was VERY proud of President Bush until we went to Iraq. I am very happy with Senator Michael Ellis, and from what I have read on your web page, I also like your thoughts on the important issues. The reason for this letter is because I read in the Post Crescent Newspaper on Sunday March 8, 2008 that you have a bill to schedule on the state wide smoking ban. To me, this is a waste of time considering the other bills up for a vote. The Appleton Post Crescent spread the word to 70,000+ subscribers that a smoking ban was the right thing for Appleton to do and they got their ban passed. Now they say they are on an uneven playing field and want everyone to join. As you may guess, I am a smoker. However, I do not own a business and I have very little say over what happens with this. Governor Doyle has already taxed us as a group and that’s not fair. We have few places left that we can light up and a State wide ban would shut the closed off and ventilated break room at my work. I work 12 hours and would be forced to quit. I feel that we are losing our freedoms at an alarming rate in the USA. and that worries me. I totally understand that people want a smoke free environment to go to and that’s fine. But taking all/most of them away isn’t fair either. When Appleton passed their ban, most cities and towns passed their own ban because they wanted to be fair, and not like Appleton. Now the Appleton P.C. is spreading the word again in strong numbers to get this law passed. In closing, I have never supported a full ban on smoking in “public” places and I feel we have many more important issues to work on. Thank you so much for your time, XXXX XXXXXXXXX

If the ban goes thru in WI, you'll be loosing businesses right and left as has happened in Ohio and in other states. It is all built on deceits to line the pockets of big business. Are WI politicians IN THE POCKET TOO? I hear they love the bonus checks!!! ..... Now closed: One of HUNDREDS: http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb162/photos_and_photos/KellysCafeonWatervliet.jpg

When will the loss of our freedoms end ? I did 5 years in the Marines as my duty to being free . Starting to feel like a waste of time.

I am co-owner of a corner tavern in milwaukee called "The Bottle Milwaukee". I have worked many years to get to this point in my life and a smoking ban would definitely devistate my business. I am there everyday and know my clientele and what is best for the kind of business I am running.
This smoking ban is only going to open one big can of worms for everyone.

It is not the governments business wheather I smoke or not! This is supposed to be a free country!

Stop telling people what is good or bad for them and let people make their own choices.
Is this state going communist or what? Your acting like a dictator not a Govenor
Why are you trying to tell everyone what to do with their lives? Why don't you try to help this state by putting a stoop on some gas taxes and give us a brake.
I think it is unconstitutional to say that people do not have a choice in what they do with their lives based on some people that think they should own the world. I thought it was a free country. And I am a nonsmoker.
