451 banning smoking is just bogus.
452
453 I also understand that there are costs for people who continue to smoke (like those associated with drinking and gambling). Rather than take away that right, in this difficult economy (which will cost bar owners and restaurant owners) why not tax us and use that money for health costs and smoking cessation programs? I would gladly pay more money for a meal served in a restaurant that allowed smoking. Make drinkers pay more to drink in a smoking bar. This would raise the incentive for the establishment of more non-smoking establishments, encourage more customers to those businesses, raise money for the state coffers, and not make Wisconsin fall into a ‘nanny role’ over its people.
454 Smoking ban goes through, and I will loose my job. The bar owner i work for, says he will have to close the doors when and if the ban goes thru.
455 I live in a border town next to Minnesota. I have a friend that owns 2 taverns across the river. Because of their smoking ban, he has decided to close one establishment and let it go back to the bank. He is unclear at this point what to do with the other one as his greatly reduced customer base has left him with not enough to cover the bills. Is this what you want Wisconsin? Keep your mind on government and leave the business in the bars.
456 We need to have the right to choose
457 down right ridiculous

461 the Wisconsin State smoking ban is a gross abuse of legislative power and a violation of our freedom as residents of Wisconsin.
462 There should be no smoking ban in the state of Wisconsin period! At the very least, leave the bars/taverns alone. In this economy, this should be the least of the governors worries. How about the unemployment rate?

468 I, as a bar & grill owner, also smoke. Over 90% of my customers smoke. If this ban goes through, I will lose 90% of my business. I have taken a poll of my customers and they will sit home and eat, drink and watch tv instead of going out for a relaxing evening without their job or home life worries. I will have to sell my business (which has taken away all my life savings to operate) to whomever is willing to buy a business that has NO customers! What a life to look forward to! What will I and all of the rest of the bar and restaurant owners do? Is the government ready for all of the bankruptcy cases the smoking ban will ensue? Will they be prepared for all the medical and financial help we will need? Are they prepared for all of the foreclosures that will definitely come to be? We will all lose our business, our homes and our livelihood. This proposal should SCARE everyone that owns a business where smoking is allowed.

479 Any smoking ban is a clear violation of private property rights. No person is forced to be a customer of or working a privately owned estabishment, so the government has no business meddling in this matter.

492 All americans have been brainwashed by smoke free groups. All of their scientific studies are called junk science. These are studies that are done by choosing a topic and looking for the worst of the worst to present to the American public. All of their information is extremley over exaturated

494 I own a business in Wisconsin. When the powers to be pay may bills, pay my employees, and pay may taxes than maybe they have the right to tell me what I can do with my business. But until then they need to solve their own messes first.
