Name: Samantha Lee Chapin on Dec 31, 2006Comments: Domestic violence and abuse of any kind is an epidemic begun in ignorance and perpetrated in hate and anger. It is a pandemic and this pandemic needs a cure. We need to realize our worth, step out, and make intelligent choices for ourselves, take responsibility for our actions and begin change within ourselves and then throughout the world. It is time for a change. The change is now. Life is sacred. Know it. Act on it. Own it.Flag

Name: Elizabeth Mitchell on Jan 2, 2007Comments: I'm an abuse survivor and no one should have to feel the pain and terror imposed upon them by a supposed love one. The laws must deal with the continueing miscarraige of justice that victims are challenged with everyday. I'm sharing a poem with you that I wrote about my experiences, it's to help empower the hopeless. I survived but so many more haven't. That needs to change. Twigs snap beneath my feet branches snare my hair and I run so far so fast for so long and along wall after wall with no escape spinning round and round head slammed to the ground stars swirling in black as the fist pounds back Where am I How did I get here who is the woman in the mirror flesh spilled open all hope broken bruise peppered skin remnants of his sin These scars speak volumes untold waking from a stranglehold breathless and cowering in a puddle of tears and blood fragments of bone in a flood cracked teeth clenched bleeding ears feed fears swallowed whole by hate I could kill him...... But then I'd be dead too...... So I run Until I'm spent Until my feet refuse to carry me I will run I will never relent I will always dissent Until he's gone I will never relent I will always dissent Until these endless tears run dry I will never relent I will always dissent Until I'm whole again I will never relent I will always dissentFlag
