Name: Michael Grattan on Nov 17, 2006Comments: I am a former military police officer and a current graduate student in the UC system. It is an abuse of force to continually shock a person once they have been subdued. The officers were under no threat and had only to remove the man from the facility and take him to the station if they wanted to press charges. There is no excuse for their behavior, and their actions are criminal.Flag

Name: Ismael Diaz Herrera on Nov 17, 2006Comments: What happened to that student at UCLA is an act of shame on behalf of the UCLA Police Department. The student's actions were under no means an invitation to excessive force on behalf of the UCLA PD. The UCLA PD's continued tasering of the student once apprehended is disgraceful! Again, we see a clear example of law enforcement's abuse of power. UC police is suppose to protect and serve it's students. Not abuse them!Flag

Name: Enrique Soto on Nov 17, 2006Comments: Stop police brutality!!! Who are they here to "protect" Why are they making people feel unsafe as oppoed to safe This incident is misfortunate and luckily it was captured on video, but think of all the other unethical actions that are taken by those in power without any witnesses and all the racial profiling that happens on UC campus where we are made to feel like we dont belong at a PUBLIC institution. A "top" research institution should focus on the actual safety of our communities as opposed to hurting and marginilizing us.Flag

I do not believe that simply by using force and violence our campus in particular and the country in general will be more "safe." Whether or not the student is not cooperating is one thing, but abusing power is quite another thing.Flag

Name: Francesca Austin Ochoa on Nov 17, 2006Comments: The UC system is disgustingly hypocritical. It's logo claims that knowledge will light the world, while it invests millions into nuclear research; it purports to be a safe environment for learning but it is a place of violence; it claims to be equal oppurtunity, but gruesome hate crimes are carried out by members of the institution. Is this HIGHER educationFlag
