2/11/10 Northwestern Msti project Northwestern has proposed installing a 450 mile 1500 megawatt high voltage line that will run from Canada to Idaho and eventually Nevada. They plan to begin in 2010 and finish by 2013. This project will lower the value of homes by 30%. Home lenders won't even lend on properties with homes within 365 yards of these lines. And the beauty of the land will be ruined by these ugly obstructions. Northwestern should place these towers on public lands, far from towns. They also plan to build a large substation in Townsend Mt on 100+ acres. This is a big threat to home land security. If the lines go down, thousands of people will be without power. No one will be able to get emergency information without telephone, or television. Many elderly will suffer for days without heat. Forest and grass fires will happen more often which will threaten peoples homes, outbuildings, families, animals, and way of life i.e. wheat fields, alfalfa fields etc... The electromagnetic fields are known to cause childhood leukemia, depression, stress, high anxiety, memory loss, and many other illnesses in people. The risk to animals wild and domestic is more anxiety causing cows to produce much less milk, many animals eventually die because of the magnetic waves moving through the air, newborns are especially sensitive to these. Northwestern does not plan to compensate home owners for the inconvenience of having these towers on their land. They may even enforce eminent domain. Any profit made by customers using the power lines will go directly to Northwestern. And the customers are not in Montana. Why should we provide power for other states? Let's stop this now, before it's too late.
