This petition is meant to demand that the Attorney General of Illinois retract her request for a 30 day extension on the stay granted by the 7th circuit and that Gov. Quinn sign the bill on his desk. Whereas: Illinois is the last state in the nation to have a concealed carry law for its' citizens. Whereas: The people of Illinois have been demanding action on the part of the legislature regarding concealed carry. Whereas: The chance to create a bill that answered the needs of the state has been in the hands of the legislature for at least a decade. Whereas: The refusal of the legislature to do as their constituents asked, lead to the intervention of the 7th circuit order to create a law that allows concealed carry Whereas: House Bill 183 Amendment 005 was passed by the senate and house in a supermajority, meaning no veto is possible Therefore be it resolved: We the people of the State of Illinois demand that Lisa Madigan retract her request for 30 day extension and Governor Quinn immediately sign the bill on his desk into law, and by so doing also fund the Illinois State Police FOID unit to begin the process of permit issuance within the 180 days prescribed in HB183.
