Every year a variety of clubs on campus make an effort to raise awareness on the UP campus against sexual violence. UPUA will be passing legislation THIS Wednesday, March 21, 2012 on whether they will support the cause by purchasing t-shirts to get students talking about sexual violence in an attempt to bring sexual violence out of the darkness. Of all years, it is critical to educate the Penn State Community about the TRUTH about sexual violence and the myths that come along with it too. One way to do so is by handing out educational information by providing that to the students, but it is also important to get people to start TALKING about the issue. We must stand united against something that directly effects so much of the student population. Students can make a statement in wearing shirts that say "I only do it with consent" by being united as well as supporting a cause. We cARE. Stop Sexual Violence.

*UPUA would be purchasing the T-shirts but they would also be making events like Walk A Mile in Her Shoes, Breaking the Silence, and One Heart's Lantern Ceremony where information and resources will be provided to students there as well.

Post this link to your Facebook timeline and text three friends to explain why we need the UPUA to back this initiative. Email your student representatives today to tell them that silence is not an option when our community is at stake.

The momentum behind this petition is proving that our campus is finally ready to demand real action from UPUA. Take this energy and call your student representatives today to tell them to vote yes on the t-shirt funding. Post this link on your Facebook wall right now to keep the pressure on before the legislation hits the floor.

Wearing a shirt is a start but we gotta keep the conversation going long after this event ends. Thanks for pushing this.

Finally. This university needs to wake up and actually address what's going on here instead of trying to hide it under the rug.
