This is an urgent plea to stop Select Garden Centre in Sundridge, Kent selling puppies. The puppies are kept in plastic crates in claustrophobic locked rooms. They barely have any room to move and are only let out when potential buyers come to look, so basically have no exercise and are unable to socialise with other dogs or people!! They are kept there overnight when the shop is closed. It is a truly heartbreaking sight. The staff members have very little information as to where the puppies come from, which leads me to believe they are bred at puppy farms. The RSPCA are aware of the situation and have made visits to the shop but unfortunately although they appreciate the puppies living quarters are far from ideal, because the puppies are being fed and watered and are not malnourished they are unable to do anything. The only way we can stop these puppies suffering further is if people stop buying them. At one stage they were selling a wide range of breeds, Chocolate & Black labradors, Boxers, Basset Hounds, Jack Russels and Terriers. Prices range up to £750. If you go to the shops website www.selectpuppies.co.uk you will see for yourself the 'luxurious' homes these poor little animals are kept in. Sevenoaks Council have issued a licence for the garden centre to sell the pups but if we get enough signatures together I am hoping this will sway their decision and their license will be revoked. So please add your name to the list and stop this cruel and inhumane practice. Or in addition to this, if you are able to visit the store and express your disapproval, this would be a further boost to my campaign. Thank you.
