Name: Anonymous on Sep 28, 2007Comments: this is completely ridiculous. first of all, i think that by writing false accusations about a band you've never talked to in person is wrong. you dont KNOW that they are satanist....you dont KNOW that they want to kill your children. you are making assumptions. second of all, by taking away your kids Schoolyard Heros cd's.....your making them want to listen to it more.....by taking it away..its causing more temptation. you may be thinking your doing your child good by throwing out thier cds and t-shirts...but in fact your making them more angry than any lyric the band could write. you as the parents have fueled the fire....and now what your kids will not thank you....they will have more desire to do more things against you. by doing this....you are causing them to want to be more unruley...to get you back. and finally, dont judge our era of music. music have evolved into something completely different from what you used to listen to. just because its different....doesn't mean the band members are satanist's or that they want to murder your children. i personally am not a fan of the band. not because i think thier a cult...just because i've not gotten into it. but i am speaking my mind on this for the sake of music.....and it breaks my heart that parents would take away the cds and merchandise of one of thier childs favorite bands. thats wrong. just talk to your kids...and ask them what the feel about the band....dont take such drastic measures. you making this whole situtation worse.Flag

Not only should we be able to dismember their band, we should be able to dismiss and reject anything we disapprove of, especially if it comes down to religious boundaries. No one has ever felt that way and should never ever be able to express a little bit of it artistically because it might cause a child to question their own life as something dark. Why we are at it, let's ban Donnie Darko and any horror movie ever made. Even better, let's never take responsibility for our children's actions or take the time to talk to them about what they are listening to and why they are listening to it. Stop Schoolyard Heroes! You're children should never have the choice to listen to whatever they want because having the choice means they are going to choose the most harmful and hurtful option. You're right; ever 13 year old should be kept from hearing this devil worshipping puke because there is a chance they could run away. They might even want to question their faith, which is completely unacceptable, so let's not even allow the idea. My son's not a big SYH fan. Never has been. My daughter loves them, I love them. There's a healthy dose of showmanship and irony in a lot of what they do; but watch them perform, catch the wry smile creasing Jonah's or Ryann's lips as they banter between songs and you know. It's not that their load in ritual involves always making they draw the pentagram just right on the band room floor; it's that they've got their thing, and they have fun with it. It's like Rocky Horror Picture Show meets an old B&W Dracula film. I used to perform in traditional live melodrama plays, and there, as with SYH, it's about being over the top and dramatic and a showman. They do it amazingly well. Kids aren't stupid! Give our young people a little credit. They've been listening to things that piss their parents off for decades haven't they It's about them establishing a little independence, and if you think busting a record, tossing a shirt, or burning a book or two is going to help, well, it's not the kids who are stupid. Talk to your kids. Learn what it is they like. Tell them what you think. The greatest lesson a parent can learn is that they can actually learn from their children. By the way, the CD in my car changer the past three days as I commute to and from work Abominations. My god. They named the record Abominations. Surely it must be filled with abominations!
