We, the undersigned, petition the Suwannee Board of County Commissioners, Live Oak City Council and Branford Town Council to adopt the local ordinance proposed by the Suwannee Coalition to prohibit pain management clinics within the boundaries of Suwannee County. This ordinance would prevent Suwannee County from becoming a source for drug addicts and drug traffickers who are doctor shopping to obtain pain medications illegally. This ordinance would, in no way, limit the legitimate practice of medicine by licensed physicians but rather is an attempt to reduce the number of deaths and the onslaught of violent crime associated by clinics devoted solely to dispensing pain medication.
