There is a tenant (or tenants) smoking marijuana on the ninth floor. The smell of the marijuana - and the smells of attempts to cover the marijuana smell like incense, burning wood, and bacon/fish - travels through air ducts and permeates walls leaving the 9th floor corridor and other units smelling like marijuana, incense, burning wood. It is also possible there is now a tenant on the 10th floor smoking marijuana, as the stairwell and elevator areas on the 10 floor also smell like marijuana.

This is not about drug use, this is about respecting neighbors in our shared living space, abiding by the condo bylaws, and home values. Our condos have taken a serious value hit in the past few years. The smell of obvious narcotics and attempts to cover the smell of narcotics turns away would-be buyers, so the smell of marijuana directly impacts home value.

Attempts to talk/reason with the user have been futile. Security talking to the tenant has been futile. A letter from the association was futile. These attempts have only resulted in the user attempting to cover the marijuana smell with incense, burning wood and strong food scents. Because the only bylaw that covers narcotic use in the nuisance clause, this petition seeks to address narcotic use specifically in the Shore Manor bylaws.
