Stop the 200 acre timber clear cut on Middle Mountain. We the tax paying citizens of Hood River County request that the Hood River County Commissioners Ron Rivers/Chair, Maui Meyer, Les Perkins, Bill Fashing, Chuck Thompsen & Barbra Briggs reconsider and reverse their decision to clear cut the risky and controversial propossed wind turbine site on Middle Mountain. The commissioners are moving ahead with their $24 million dollar and 2x the counties annual budget, wind turbine industrial park agenda even though they have promised the tax payers at several under publicized public meetings that they are weighing our concerns heavily and are moving slowing, claiming they are just in the exploratory phase and have more research like the wildlife impact study that still needs to be conducted on Middle Mountain. How do you conduct a wildlife analysis in the forest if you chop down the forest? County commissioners evidently have no intention of conducting such a survey. Moreover, the research commissioners have presented to date is misleading, fraudulent and most times ridiculous. One example, is their presentation of county property values... conclusion: "property values will have no negative impact". What is "green & sustainable" about clear-cutting 200 acres of forest? Why would we want to mar what we know and what National Geographic Outdoor Magazines calls the top scenic destination in the world with 360 ft. industrial wind turbines. The facts are out now that these monstrosities have been in existence that according to wind-watch.org: "Wind farming is uniquely intrusive industrialization of rural and wild areas and requires extensive expansion of the transmission infrastructure. It adds noise and light and visual pollution. It degrades and fragments wildlife habitat. It is a threat to bats and birds.
