We are Kmart Associates from across the United States working in Many Different Locations and are connected by the Internet and Email. We know the following to be true and because of that we DEMAND that Kmart Stops using ProRep.
Kmart started a great program for their managers called ProRep. It was supposed to be a “tool for them to improve production”. It would raise awareness of production issues by keeping track of the time associates spent doing different functions. Managers would be made aware of the fact that too much time was being spent on a “Particular Function”. They could then analyze the issues and formulate a plan to reduce the time spent in That Function. If they were successful, time spent in That Function would decrease and hopefully stay low in the future. If that Job Function continued to have too much time spent on it, they would reanalyze and formulate another plan of action. All in all, a very important tool for management. Bravo Kmart.
But, instead of using ProRep as it was intended. Kmart has totally changed ProRep into something that is now; nothing but a Production Lie, a Waste of Time and Resources, and a Program that is Hated by the Associates and their Managers that have to endorse it.
How did this happen?
In THREE stages.
FIRST. The ProRep “foundation” was a Total Lie. Job Duties and Functions were not correctly analyzed and Associates and Managers falsified observations in order to attain anticipated results expected by Senior Management.
THEN. Associates and Managers continued to Lie and Falsify Numbers, Documents and Reports in order to meet the constantly increasing production requirements. New production requirements were now being built on top of previous fabrications.
AND FINALLY. Management has not been analyzing, recreating and following up on Job Functions that waste time. Instead, Senior Management eliminates Job Functions that raise Red Flags. The Job has not gone away, but acknowledgment of it has. Where does the REAL TIME SPENT doing that job go? It has to be hidden in another Job Function.
What is the END RESULT?
THREE problems.
FIRST. The Associates are forced to LIE day in and out about True Production Time. Time spent doing Unrecognized Job Functions is not acknowledged on any documents and it is written down that Other Things occurred during that time. Time spent Not Working because there is Little or No Work in front of the Associate and or because Machines are Down or Not at Full Speed is also not acknowledged and again it is recorded that Other Things occurred during that time. In order to make Artificial Production Requirements, Associates SLOWED DOWN by Unrecognized Job Functions have to make sure they WORK BEYOND 100% in order to RECORD that they are AT 100%. None of the documents are a true record of what occurred during the workday and could never be used to effectively analyze any Job Function.
THEN. Management collects all ProRep Documentation and changes and readjusts all of the numbers in order to meet their daily goals. Manipulated Records in fact, that are also later used in disciplinary action against Associates.
AND FINALLY. Senior Management has all of the Records readjusted at every level before they are input in order to meet their daily goals. Manipulated Records that eventually become available to Decision Makers and Stockholders.
We the Associates ARE TIRED OF IT ALL !!!
Tired of Artificially Inflated Production Requirements. Tired of ProRep Documents that are a Fabrication of True Production from the Beginning to the End. Tired of ProRep wasting everybody's Time and Money for nothing. Tired of Leaving Jobs we Enjoy in order to get away from ProRep. Tired of the STRESS. Tired of the LIES. Tired of it ALL.
WE DEMAND that Kmart STOPS Using ProRep! |
