On September 19th, CBS will begin airing Kid Nation, a reprehensible "social experiment" that CBS calls an "intriguing series". The premise, take 40 kids, boys and girls ranging in age from 8 to 15 and place them in a town in New Mexico for 6 weeks without parents or any adult supervision, from April to May and see what happens. It is apparent that CBS(or the producers of the show), selected New Mexico, because they do not have any specific regulations concerning the use of child actors in television and film production. CBS has ignored child labor laws. CBS claims that the kids weren't employees and working for them, but work means submitting to conditions that are set by employers in order to generate profit for those employers, and that's clearly what CBS has done, profitted. This show exploits children and borders on child abuse( Several children were injured while shooting, some reportedly drank bleach). It's too late to stop them from creating this terrible show, but it's not too late to stop them from ever letting this be seen by anyone. Send CBS a message, let them know that child exploitation is not acceptable television!
