The petition
As a patriotic American, I am excited about the wonderful energy generated by the Democratic candidates for President. However, I am disappointed that Hillary Clinton injected race into this election.
I believe that it is 100% appropriate for any candidate, white, black or Hispanic, male or female, to compare him or herself to historical figures, such as the great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and John F. Kennedy. Similarly, I believe it is 100% appropriate for a candidate to evoke the names of these great leaders for the purpose of inspiring people to vote for him/her.
However, I also believe that it is NOT appropriate for Ms. Clinton to criticize Mr. Obama by saying that he is no Dr. King because that is disrespectful to Dr. King as well as to all Black Americans. I also believe that it is racist for the Clinton campaign to challenge Mr. Obama's claim that he has consistently opposed the war in Iraq by calling this claim "a fairy tale" because it was really meant to suggest that a Black President is a fairy tale. Therefore, I call upon Ms. Clinton to apologize to America for playing the race card and to return to a discussion of the issues.
