Industry City Associates has recently raised the rent on artist studio spaces in their 6 million square foot complex in Industry City at Bush Terminal in Sunset Park. The increases are being imposed at a rate of 50% which is unsustainable for the majority of the artist renters. These drastic rent hikes are forcing out the same artists who have put this complex on the map. We would like to propose a more modest increase, which would allow our community of artists to remain in this complex. Below are the signatures of artists who feel strongly that the rent increase is unsustainable and request that Industry City renegotiate its terms for upcoming leases in order to help artists continue to thrive in this area.
