Name: Lindsie Fratus on Jun 1, 2004State: WACountry: USComments: I have been deeply moved by discovering what has been going on in India for the last 30 years. I feel it is absolutly absurd that a project that literally has no official impact assesment whatsoever to be implemented. Just like the U.S.A. has done to it's native people, the country of India is coonducting a genocide on it's own native people who, i feel, have more right to the land than any other citizen or politician in the country. I vow to never support the industries of India until the construction of dams on the Narmada are FULLY considered. Thank you.Flag

Name: Ella Harris on Jun 2, 2004State:Country: UKComments: looking back through recent history anybody can see that major developments cause more problems than they solve. focus on small scale development for families or villages. do not put countries at risk, especially when, like india, they can't afford the damage.Flag

Name: Chiji Ochiagha on Sep 27, 2004State: CACountry: USComments: I believe that the independent review taken of the dam should be taken seriously. Those displaced by the dam need to have land that is actually comparable in quality to that which they used to have. New villages could be made in the forests for the Aduvasi as an example. Also, a focus should be put on local water projects which are more effective than large dams.Flag

I thought- DOes this really happen in this world Are people actually forced from there own homes in this manner, without notification or discussion Surprisingly the answer is Yes!Flag
