Comments: It's clearly a problem. We've had numerous accidents of crossover traffic, including one that resulted in the death of a good friend and coworker of mine. don't let anyone else die for lack of a barrier in this high traffic area.

Comments: maybe if I40 around Chapel Hill did not have to be re-paved 3 times, there would be money for this type of project.

Comments: This is a real safety issue that DOT needs to make a top priority. It benefits not only residents of the Triangle, but residents all over the state who use I-40 (including rural drivers who are a bit fearful of passing thru Raleigh).

Comments: I strongly urge NCDOT to consider finding funds for all projects that would protect the lives of motorists and cyclists along our roads and highways.

Comments: I believe guard rails are important to the safety of our motorists. I've seen numerous wrecks in SC & NC where people, including children, are killed after a car has crossed over the median. Many of these could have been prevented if a guard rail was in place. I do not believe we can put a price on life and believe the installation of guard rails on all interestates are important!

Comments: Please give serious consideration to this safety feature before another valuable member of our community is killed. A barrier could have prevented George Smith's death. Let's learn from that loss and keep others from occurring.

Comments: If there had been a sufficient barrier along I-40 on Friday July 27, 2007, Nemeth Sanders would still be alive and his two children would still have their dad. NC can find a lot stuff to waste millions of dollars on, how about spending it on something worthwhile that will save lives.

Comments: I was the car directly in front of the SUV that fishtailed out of control, crossed the median and hit George's car. I watched the whole thing play out as if I was watching a movie in slow motion. I can't remember how close the SUV was to my car, but he was gaining quickly on me... and I had cruise set at 74mph. Every time I drive to work, I think of how close I was to being sent across the median too. The highways in this state are absolutely terrible. How is it that we never have money for them Guard rails In Ontario Canada, concrete barriers separate ALL of the major highways (QEW, 401, 403 etc) for thousands of miles. Why this hasn't been done here already is beyond me. It makes me feel sick that the politicians down here don't care enough about the people they supposedly represent to provide them with simple safety measures like concrete barriers.
