208 Margaret ReadeI live in Moray so not sure which schools the government are attacking now. But where ever they are - LEAVE SMALL SCHOOLS ALONE THEY ARE THE BACK BONE OF THE BEST EDUCATION POSSIBLE.
209 jerome lestienneI back the three Highlands and Islands MSPs, Peter Peacock, Rhoda Grant and David Stewart, in opposing Highland Council's so-called efficiency savings in Education in the Highlands which could cost the area 50 teachers and the same again in support staff.
210 mr&mrs craibIf theses cuts go ahead, our speacial needs daughter and other children like her best friend who would not succed at school and in turn will not become part of our commiuty. And also children and teenagers would not gain the skills they need to live in th community but a care home. The money they spend on the kids now is nothing compared with the cost of failure.

212 AnonymousOur local secondary school is in such a poor state of repair that any further cuts would mean disaster for our children. Their learning environment is already dreadful. Teachers are in short supply as it is and some classes have to sit and 'twiddle their thumbs' as there is no one available to teach them.

216 Joyce C FraserI thought the governments idea was to cut class sizes! How on earth would this be possible it they cut the number of teachers and their support staff. Surely our children are the future and should be allowed the best possible education.

226 AnonymousThis is the outcome of a ridiculous mandate from the SNP led Scottish Assembly to cap the Council Tax - if people had realised this and many other regional council funded services would be cut - there would have been less cheering. This cannot be allowed to occur. Alex Salmond should be made to answer for these actions of the Regional Councillors.

230 Suzy NelliesI am absolutely disgusted by the recent cut back by the Highland Council. Over the past 12 months cuts in services has personally affected my family and the support that my 4 year old autistic receives. These cut backs are solely down to saving money and do not have the childrens best interests at heart.

238 Robert McClymontI was the 5th to sign this petition but was removed and I was not the only one? It is an open petition so I will add my support!!! You can not have council tax freeze and continue spending at the same level any business knows that so it's one or the other.
239 Gillian SibbaldMy child is in a class of 30 children - they need 3 teachers not one!!!
240 Robert McClymontI am ex - Association of Community Enterprises Highlands & Islands (ACE-HI) The association who helped build & support communities. I worked with Peter Peacock MSP and many others across the H&I when I was in ACE-HI. STOP the services we helped build being reversed. I fully support this petition. Robert McClymont Kinlochleven.
241 Elizabeth FyvieAs a teacher in Highland region (although not one whose job is currently at risk) I am very concerned by the threat to staffing levels in our schools. New initiatives in education (e.g. A Curriculum for Excellence) if anything require MORE teachers and resources. It is the pupils who will suffer from these cuts.

245 julie lenaneMy daughter was excluded from school last year, and refered to out of school tuition because thses services where streghted she is now being taken back into the school that excluded her it has taken six month`s to get some sort of an education for my daughter, saying that she will only get 3-4hrs a week it`s a degrace, and her school is one of the school`s listed for teacher cut back`s.

247 AnonymousI would rather children have the opportunity of a decent education than have them watch thousands of pounds worth of fireworks go up in a puff of smoke in Inverness!!

250 Jacqueline CHOATGET A GRIP YOU LOT AND LISTEN TO PARENTS ON THE LOWER LEVELS OF LIFE. My son is at primary school and is not getting the help or support he needs to even grasp the very basics of the 3 "R"'s. He is struggling to get off the 2nd grade in his compisite class. Teachers don't have the time or resources to help and he is one of many who fall through the net and reach secondary school unable to read, write and count to the basic standard required to cope with ever increasing school work. The govrnments education Ministers have a lot ot answer for when it comes to our children and need to get a grip and ensure that ALL children master the fundementals of the 3 "R"'s before leaving Primary School. Schools have insufficient staff and now they feel the need to reduce it even more. Why is it that foreign immigrants get preferential treatment - one to one tuition, interpitators, etc because the Government say they must be treated better (civil/human rights) BUT kids with learning difficulties that were born here have no special rights at all and parents have to fight to get something done. My son's is fast reaching secondary school and will be well out of his depth.
