Mark Norman | Not good news for Richmond. A Labour voter here. Looks like the Tories have got a better policy!
Ann Burnett |
Derek Andrewes | I have a daughter who lives under the most used flightpaths. These are already unpleasant and any additional traffic would be horrendous for her.
catriona clunas | I think that we should invest money in high speed rail links between scotland and england

penny Milner | I live in france and fly to england because flights are so cheap. The argument that people need to fly is false. Train fares should be redused. At the moment it is cheaper for me to travel to London than to Paris. We simply need to change our habits and be encouraged to do so.
Anonymous | It would be an ecological disaster.
| 16014 | Maureen Dyroff | Expansion at Heathow will make a mockery of our requirements to cut CO2 emissions. Rather we need to make flights more economic, develop other forms of public transport and discourage unnecessary flights.
Another runway in the city would be an environmental hazzard.
Maureen Dyroff. |
Mike Colvin | It does this government no credit to be so obviously in the pocket of the aviation lobby
Charles overton |
Anonymous | no third runway
diane jones |
Celia Hawkesworth | I would like to see virtually all internal flights in the UK scrapped in favour of serious investment in the railways. This would obviate the need for a 3rd runway, which is in every way in any case pernicious.
Celia Hawkesworth |
Anonymous | I oppose further expansion of Heathrow airport which would cause noise and air pollution, increase carbon emissions, speed up climate change, reduce our scarce oil resources.

gill moore | Climate change remains the greatest threat to biodiversity and I alongside millions of others in the UK believe that there should be NO further airport expansion
Anonymous | Improve other means of transport, make rail travel to Europe more affordable and no more airports or expansion
Garrick Davis | Invest in rail!
Garrick Davis | Invest in Rail!
Darius Astell | A third runway is not required. All domestic flights should be scrapped, as should all flights to Brussels and Paris. Anybody who gives a hoot about the future of the planet should cease all domestic/short-haul flights forthwith.
Liam Finn | I want a planet to inherit!
Anonymous | My husband and I totally oppose further expansion of Heathrow. We believe that the environmental cost, the questionable economic arguments in favour of expansion, and impact on the quality of life of local residents mean that expansion cannot possibly be justified. We are in favour of an airport to replace Heathrow being built in the Thames Estuary.
Mark Ambrose | Despite living miles away from Heathrow, in SE15, we are constantly bothered by endless whining from the engines of planes flying less than 4,000 ft overhead. Heathrow expansion affects all of London, clearly, and I strongly oppose it. I realise there are economic benefits but believe these could be achieved through use of other airports. Why is it that so much holiday traffic comes through Heathrow - basic supply-demand would say that the price of landing at Heathrow should be set to deter anything other than business flights.
Anonymous | A third runway will wreck the UK working towards implementing the Climate Change Bill. It is environmentally and socially wreckless and will line the pockets of BA Directors, etc.
Anonymous | What a ridiculous idea.
Roy Newson | I deplore the further planned expansion at Heathrow of new runway &/or Terminal 6. The massive increase in flights will bring more misery by the intoleable worsening of noise due to flight numbers. Abandoning alternate runway use, as inplace now, & introducing mixed mode will send me mad. T5 was approved on the basis of NO FURTHER EXPANSION. Were we who agreed to support lied to ?? It seems so. 3rd Runway & T6 would be A DISGRACE and proof that those in power cannot be trusted & have no integrity.

Anonymous | there has to be a fine balance between commercial expansion and the impact that increased flights will have on our environment. If BAA and the government want to expand Heathrow, concerted efforts must also be made to reduce harmful emissions from aircraft. We only have one planet and our elected representatives should start to realise this before its too late.
Grace Rowley |
Richard Merritt |
Anonymous | To Gordon Brown: please, on behalf of MILLIONS and MILLIONS of residents of London, please Stop the expansion of Heathrow. Please do not ruin our daily lives by adding even more noise and pollution from airplanes landing and taking off right over our heads. Tell BAA it has to improve and do a better job managing what it has got today at Heathrow - like getting rid of all the worthless international transfers and use that capacity to transport people who actually add to our UK economy. Listen to what residents living under the Heathrow flight-paths are saying to you! NO THIRD RUNWAY!
Frances Queen |
Anonymous | use more of gatwick/stansted, invest in a proper rail network, or think of another alternative.
| 16044 | jackie porter | I oppose the expansion
I do not want lives of Britons ruinned because of the greed of BAA. Using the airport as a terminus rather than as a destination does nothing for the UK economy but contributes hugely to the particulates dropping on Heathrow neighbours. |

Anonymous | It is not fair for residents living under the flight path. I live in Clapham , miles away from Heathrow and unfortunately it sounds like we live 2 minutes from an airport. wakes you up in the morning at 4am and never stope until midnight. The 3rd runway will make it worse!!
| 16048 | hari Krishnadasan | Stop the 3rd runway as it is not fair to residents.
We already put up with enough flight noise and i live in london , not near the airport!!
Build a new aiport somewhere else! |
Anonymous | I live in osterley and the noise is already unbearable with triple glazing!!! Stop the 3rd runway. It will affect so many peoples quality of life.
barbara tonkin | The constant noise and pollution over Clapham is terrible
