15251 Joanne MartlandWe need to try and discourage the ease with which people take planes when journeys are either unnecesary or an alternative, less damaging to the environment form of transport could be used. By building more terminals and runways we are encouraging more use of air travel.

15255 Chris BartonPeak oil, falling net energy and the 'export land model' are all combining to reduce the amount of jet fuel available and to greatly increase its price (and $135/bbl will shortly look cheap). The business models of airlines and BAA are yet to reflect the new energy reality...but they soon will and Heathrow expansion will then look even more unsustainable. In any event much capacity could be released quickly by switching short / medium haul trips to rail (and the rail routes already exist).

15258 Hazel SharradThis is a short term business decision with horrifying long term consequences for all of us

15260 Phillip W DukeHeathrow now exists in a heavily populated area and is surrounded by houses on three sides! What planning folly! And this Government wants to add to this folly by now getting rid of over 750 houses, including the entire village of Sipson!

15265 Margaret Healey PollettStop this madness. There are limits to growth and we have arrived at them.
15266 Jane NichollsThis expansion must not proceed and it will have dire consequences for the climate, our health and the quality of people's lives.
15267 Chris MillardI am opposed 100% to the ludicrous expansion of the megatropolis that is already Heathrow in the middle of a densely populated area and with the consequent increase in polution and acceleration of climate change.
15268 zoe stevensonI think this is totally crazy and will be at such a huge cost to the environment and the people who live in the vicinity. It is vital that government policy starts to really put environmental issues at the top of its agenda.

15281 Paul JudgesThe further expansion of Heathrow would be environmentally destructive and economically unjustified.
15282 Anne BoothIf the British government is serious about tackling climate change, it will not allow the third runway to go ahead and will not allow further expansion of the airport.

15285 jo walkerI can't believe the expansion is even being considered. This is completely mad.

15292 Harriet TippingThe Government must discourage people from flying, not encourage them. Money needs to be spent on making trains a cheaper option so flying becomes less appealing.
15293 Mrs M JonesI am totally opposed to any expansion of airports we should be limiting our flights not extending them, the cost to the environment is too great. We are damaging our planet and us along with it.
15294 Mary BrooksTo reduce emissions we need to be reducing air traffic , not increasing it. Any expansion is short term thinking. Long term investment in public transport makes sense - increasing air traffic does not!

15298 Ewan JuresHeathrow is already too big and air travel MUST reduce if we are to reduce carbon emission. Peoples homes and the environment are more important than cheap flights!
