juliet carrCopy of email sent to Tessa Jowell regarding flight noise. 12th June 2008 Dear Mrs Jowell I've just been on the very interesting 'blogspot' on Herne Hill forum http://www.hernehillforum.blogspot.com This is because I was wondering why there is so much aircraft noise at the moment where I live in - Romola Road Tulse Hill/Herne Hill borders. What can I do about this noise -- It's starting to interfere with my sleep and my once very quiet evenings are now very disturbed with extremely noisy aircraft overhead. I would very much like a reply and an answer detailing what can be done. Kind regards Juliet Carr 23b Romola Road Tulse Hill London SE249BA mobile: 07947 308 325
Miss J FindlayWe should be looking at ways to reduce air travel.

Jon WhittakerExpansion is madness in light of impending climate catastrophe.
AnonymousExpansion will hasten climate change and that is indefensible.

sandra wiltshireenough is enough, people in this area have to contend with noise and pollution from the existing runways at heathrow, the m4 and the m40, and yet we manage to preserve some areas of green space for our children to enjoy. Expanding heathrow would either destroy these areas totally or increase noise pollution (and other types of pollution) so much that they will no longer be able to be enjoyed. As well as destroying the few remaining historic buildings of the villages around the airport. Heathrow cannot expand forever, it is up to our generation to call a halt and preserve a little peace for our besieged community.
andrew wiltshirewe have lived in hayes for 10 years and have noticed a change over the last few years. planes seem to be trying out new flight paths and occasionally fly over our house which they have never done before. If this expansion goes ahead I supposed this is a taste of what is to come. The new runway would not only bulldoze happy communities but would literally destroy the lives of thousands of people unfortunate enough to live in it's wake, people who did not choose to buy a house next to the airport.
Charles DonlanThe intrusive noise of planes is severely affecting my quality of life at home - enough is enough ! Look at Barcelona and Rome and review a new airport where planes land and take off on the coast ....
Nick MaugerThe recent increase in oil prices and need for energy security must surely be another nail in the coffin for the immensely environmentally damaging waste of money, that the proposal for a third runway at Heathrow represents.
Isaacstop the madness.
Val BidgoodLondon is too busy and noisy as it is, a third runway this would blight too many homes! Why not take up Boris' idea of putting it in the Thames Estuary.
J BidgoodBAA lied about a third runway when applying for T5, thier credibility is shot. They are obsessed with the idea of a "hub" - the uk does not need this. The Government should stop listening to BAA who are now not even a British company. The Thames estuary is the place for any new runways.

Gary GriefWe don't need it - most of the extra flights are to destinations easily reached by train. We don't want it - the noise, disruption and environmental destruction are too great We can't afford it - time is running out to create a sustainable society

Annika Palm-DoumengeLiving in Richmond we already suffer from waking up in the night and sometimes not able to hear a normal discussion in our garden because of the low flying airplanes. Also our children wake up when because of the early flights (around 5 o'clock). Please, do not destroy our lives!
Pierre DoumengeAs a Richmond resident i am strongly opposed to any more flights.

Anonymousno more noise please!
Sacha TremainStay home, holiday in this beautiful country and you'll save yourself the fuel surcharges as well as doing your bit to save the planet.
Anne LonerganI have numerous objections on the grounds of pollution. Why should the people of West London be poisoned, deafened and unable to enjoy any quality time and peace in our gardens and parks.
David WoodwardJust leave us alone - we are suffering enough already!
Elizabeth Woodward
Polly MunslowI just can't bear the noise so late at night and so early in the morning. It's ridiculously loud in Twickenham sometimes - you can't hear other people in the room talking! To have no let-up from this would force me out of a place I love living in.
Hilary WrightPlease do not compound the folly that is Heathrow Airport, build originally in the wrong place, by expanding it . Show some vision, and also a duty of care to the voters of the area who the Government are supposed to be elected to look after. Continued expansion adversely affects the health, safety and quality of life of those living for many miles around heathrow.
emilyToo many planes already. I am a Mother of a child with lung disease and will appose anything that increases pollution

Roger MonkThat's enough expansion of Heathrow, thanks.

Jess BrayBefore airports like Heathrow should be allowed to expand at all, they need to make all the fuel they use come from sustainable supplys. The impact that fossil fuels are having on the environment is very serious and people need to be reminded and educated about it everyday through tv's, radios newspapers etc. We all need to understand that if us humans carry on the way we are doing, that there will not be anywhere to fly to!
Libby Symon-KinmonthBlighting the lives of countless people what is the Government thinking of. Maybe it will think of votes before it gives its ill-advised support to this scheme.

marta ainleyi am writing to voice my opposition regarding further expansion of Heathrow Airport. I am calling on the government and BAA to drop plans for an expansion. Citizens should be allocated a flight allowance per annum. Those who use less could sell a fixed price to those who fly more.
Patrick Cherlet
John DickinsonSTOP IT NOW!!
Pele William BapereThis is the height of irresponsibility and placing commerce before all else that we hold sacred. The climate is in peril, we need to consider our future as a whole not merely the pursuit of financial progress. Stop the Heathrow airport expansion.
