Margaret Vaughan-Lewis | I do not believe the arguments for enlarging Heathrow. Growing internet/ conferencing/e-mail activities will reduce business need and oil prices will spped this change up.

Jethro George Gauld | Building this would be like saying 'screw you' to future generations. We don't need more regional flights in the UK we need better intergrated public transport.
Anonymous | It is ridiculous to pump even more money into an airport that has been- and will be sooner or later- surrounded by London's residential areas. Instead of spending public money on endless- and futile, I dear say- attempts to "modernize" Heathrow it would make more sense to create a new one that would have less impact on local residents - although this airport seems to have an adverse effect on almost all south of London! We do deserve some comfort wherever we live, especially, considering the fact that residents have not been consulted on flight path alterations/ extensions! That should not be happening in a civilized, democratic country like this!
Anonymous | Further expansion of Heathrow is the no-brainer's no-brainer. IF further capacity is required, there are already other 'London' airports that could be expanded considerable before they approached the current size of Heathrow.

Why can't Gordon Brown have the imagination and foresight to build a new airport in the Thames Estuary |

Anonymous | Govt is supposed to represent the people who put it there. Brown was not elected and has no right to ignore the very real fears that further expansion at LHR will be a disaster for ecology and for children unable to hear their school tutors. Millions of hours will be lost due to il;lness related to sleep deprivation
