Families and friends of people buried in Lymington Highfield Cemetry have discovered that the grave worker staff employed by NewForestDistrictCouncil have been removing mementos, animals, windmills and articles of a sentimental nature left in memory of their loved ones. These items are removed without notice and destroyed/binned without return to the families. The practise causes great distress to the families and is a violation of their basic rights to honour and respect their loved ones. Please sign this petition if you feel this is a disgraceful act and should be stopped immediately. The council claim they can do this since the cemetry has been designated a lawned cemetry. They also feel they are allowed to stop families designating the border of their graves. This should also be stopped as it inflicts more pain on families wishing to honour their departed loved ones.
