It's time to slow down and make better decisions for our community's future. It's also time to allow input from the citizens by way of a proper Comprehensive Plan for the city of Kingston. |
| 2 | Lowell Thing | This is a pro-development petition - just the right kind of development where the community wants and needs it - which is what a Comprehensive Plan and appropriate zoning are all about! |

| 4 | Kevin McEvoy | I support Lowell's comment that this is a pro development petition. We need to think carefully if CVS is the right development. |

| 8 | Jeff Anzevino | Another uptown resident for proper planning |
| 9 | Suzanne Thing | It would be a better site for the proposed Intramodal Transportation Center which would help draw pedestrian traffic to uptown Kingston. |
| 10 | Denise Orzo | |
| 11 | Paul Rakov | Kingston must end the era of its circular economy, where a dollar earned by an employee at CVS is then spent at Hannaford and then respent at the mall and then respent at Home Deport, etc. That's not growth, it's stagnation. We can do better, such as with Fleischer's Meats, Bop-to-Tottom, Hudson Coffee Traders, all surviving Uptown businesses that define the business landscape and make it attractive to people from out of the city. They create new dollars, which are then spread throughout. You don't have to go too far back to remember what it was like to have a thriving Uptown economy. It can happened again. And CVS, or similar chain, is not part of that equation. |
| 12 | Brian Cafferty | Bravo, I could not agree more! |
| 13 | April Destefano | I agree! |
| 14 | Patrick Flood | How many drug store chains does a city like Kingston need?!! This phenomenon is ruining towns accross the country. As a realtor, I've had buyers tell me that they love the historic architecture of uptown. Having studied Historic Preservation in college, I proudly agree. Unfortuantely, by allowing more drug store chains like CVS to come in only cheapens the look of this area. I wish Kingston and other towns in the Hudson Valley would consider higher quality attractive infill development that enhances a historic district rather than detracting from it. It is no accident that towns like Rhinebeck NY, Alexandria VA, and Portsmouth NH have desireable bustling downtown districts. Kingston deserves much better!!! As an interested New Urbanist proponent, I have collected pictures of some of my favorite smart growth developments I've visited and could supply pictures of what is being built in other towns like Alexandria VA where I lived prior to moving to the Hudson Valley in 1999. I find it baffling that the Hudson Valley has some amazing architecture dating back to the previous turn of the century however in post-war times to the present day, we find most new construction to be "dumbed down." It's a shame. |
| 15 | Maria Adorno | Kingston is historic and unique. Let's keep it that way and preserve the character . No CVS! |
| 16 | Jason Stern | National chains have been the bane of Kingston's existence and sucked the life out the heart of the city. We need a concerted strategy and effort to attract and support locally -owned and operated business. It's an investment in our collective future.

| 21 | Philip Gurrieri | another LEGAL drug store at that site is beyond any true American's comprehension but then again we have a mayor responsible only to the corporate citizen/ghost...... |
| 22 | malcolm burn | hey, more places to buy more crap!! No, I'd rather support my local farmer, thanks. |
| 23 | Kevin Quilty | |
| 24 | Richard Frumess | It is absolutely vital that Kingston start having a vision about what it wants, not what any developer who comes along wants. True growth and development comes from having a focus. |
| 25 | Melissa Everett | |
| 26 | Pamela Blum | |
| 27 | Deborah Cohen | This is a very important issue to me. That we preserve the historic nature of our community, that we build and develop with an eye to the charm of our unique city. Please stop this eyesore. |
| 28 | J C Deming | We MUST have a comprehensive city plan for Kingston before we rush into this kind of commercial building. Things are changing so rapidly in our economy that we must consider each and every plan and the impact it will have into the future. DO NOT RUSH INTO ACCEPTANCE OF THIS CVS PROPOSAL. |

| 34 | Michele Corso | I agree wholeheartedly with the above statement, and continue to be dismayed by the City's lack of imagination and foresight in terms of economic development, particularly in this historic district.
I purchased my home in uptown precisely because of the neighborhood's unique character, which derives not only from its rich history but also because of its business district, where one can get a great haircut, a wonderful meal, conduct banking, pick up prescriptions, mail packages, buy a hat and so much more, within a 3-block stroll!
We most certainly do not need a CVS! |
| 35 | diane bonavita | kingston has too many mini marts. we don't need another drug store, especially to compete with locally owned Nekos. I am very disappointed in the direction Kingston seems to be headed |

| 37 | Christopher Pierce | |
| 38 | Marcuse Pfeifer | In order for Kingston to flourish the City must support the Wall Street merchants. Bringing in juggernaut super stores will only kill the small businesses in Uptown Kingston. The City needs a vision which it sorely lacks. There's no over all plan so whatever comes down the pike is considered progress. CVS will kill whatever is left of Uptown charm. |
| 39 | Eric Winchell | The gateway to the Stockade District should not look like Ulster Avenue. We have enough big-box stores! |
| 40 | John Garesche | 77 Green St., Kingston, NY |
| 41 | Mark Greene | I too support developing Kingston, but we must not fall prey to a short sighted vision of what development is. Tourists will not come to see a city full of chain stores and people will not want to settle here if the historic city is eclipsed by chain stores. |
| 42 | John Vincent | We must support Lowell Thing's efforts toward
historic preservation |
| 43 | Avery Smith | Let's get with the long overdue master plan. |
| 44 | Connie Snyder | There are WAY too many drugstores within a 5 mile radius already. We do not need another one, and the traffic congestion is already bad enough on that corner. |
| 45 | Marystephanie Corsones | |
| 46 | Sharron Greene | more mom-n-pops -- less big corporations.
that's one of the keys to a charming town with staying power. |
| 47 | Lisa Heaton | CVS must be stopped, it is not logical or in keeping with good decision making.!!
W. Chestnut St., Kingston, NY |
| 48 | Jesse Barbieri | No CVS. Please make the best decisions for the citizens of this city. Listen to the citizens of this city.!!

A transit center with low-emissions buses and a Zipcar service would be a welcome addition to uptown. We will continue to support our pharmacy needs by shopping at Colonial Health, Nekos, and Columbia. |
| 50 | Marc Phelan | Lets not tear down another building. Lets build a Master Plan for Kingston instead. |
