The petition

We the undersigned are voicing our opposition to businesses that block employee access to online content. We believe that the benefits of access outweigh the risks, particularly when intelligent and effective steps are taken to educate employees about company policies and to enforce those policies. We believe that open access builds trust and contributes to engagement, while the ability to read social media content and participate in social networks can improve work productivity and business outcomes. We further believe that the vast majority of employees use these tools at work mainly for work purposes; however, the amount of work conducted away from the office more than compensates for the time taken at work for non-work-related online activities. We support the Stop Blocking campaign at www.stopblocking.org.
