Avatar does not discriminate against anyone: It is a show set in an Asian-influenced world. Asian societies have been around far longer than the Western-cultures have: Ancient text of the Chinese have been found as far back as the Third Millenia BC. What are the oldest texts in Europe? Third or Fourth CENTURY BCE? I see that the Asian are so far advanced that the least they deserve is a simple show influenced by the culture.
If anything (if you are a parent) you should want the values of Asian Society instilled in your children. In Asia, children honor their parents, thanking them for their very lives. In Asian Society, Honor and Truth is valued above everything....Save Family. In Western Society, especially in America, Honor and Truth, Family and Discipline all fall to the wayside, whenever Success and Oppurtunity comes knocking....Children today and America will sell their own siblings if they could get something good in return.
Call me crazy, but the way I see it, Avatar is almost as good for America's children as is any other garabge they watch on TV. You should be more concerned with things such as Next or TRL or Bratz or any other show that shows your children, especially little girls, that it is okay to have sex when you are 13 or 14. |

This gives children an alternative to really stupid shows like Spongebob and the real violence on CNN and other networks. Most kids do not "love" violence, but this is a good way for children to be exposed to real life situations. It's a great show, so sit down and really watch it.

Some of us that watch Nick are tired of seeing bad SNL and Mad imposters ("All That"), crappy cartoons ("All Grown Up", "Catscratch", and sadly, "SpongeBob Squarepants"), and bad sitcoms ("Romeo", "Zoey 101", "Unfabulous", and "Just for Kicks") for us, Avatar is the shit. Avatar makes watching Nick enjoyable. It's almost like watching "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" or "Rocko's Modern Life", only with more violence and better storylines, art, and characterization.

The violence is not mindless, like other cartoons that I don't see you making petitions about, and a lot of the characters on the show aren't children anyways. Most are teenagers, who are supposed to be slightly mature, and the majority of the rest are adults. There are only two children on the whole entire show. Now, to say more about the fighting, it's based on actual Martial arts and mostly in the form of self-defense anyways. Many important lessons are taught throughout the show, and it is a valuable entertainment experience to see it. So far, the only toxic thoughts that have been put into my little sister's head have been that you should respect your elders, that peace is the better way to go, and that tea tastes darn good. ^^
