The Newport Tory/Liberal party coalition Council are supporting plans that might lead to an incineration plant being built in the City Labour Leader, Cllr Bob Bright said the executive, which runs the council, signed up to a deal which could tie Newport to potentially harmful incineration for the next 25 years. The coalition joined a consortium of five councils in a scheme entitled Prosiect Gwyrdd, to look at incineration as an alternative to landfill in 2009. Their political naivety has committed the authority to a feasibility study to select a site in the area. Beware of other campaigns that include Tory councillors who are supporting their Tory/LIberal colleagues in private whilst protesting against the project in public.
