Name: Nannette Beisner on Jan 26, 2007Comments: This entire project was ram-rodded through city council by Councilman Khan and his big-business supporters at NCI. His political/financial relationship to this group may be of interest to the "little people" in the neighborhood whom he swore to represent faithfully. He has failed to keep us informed about this matter, though he promised to do so when we initially objected. Fortunately, his is an elected position.

Name: James Nguyen on Jan 26, 2007Comments: The City of Houston Mayor and City Councils are doing a major disservice to its citizens. They are elected to serve the citizens but instead ignoring their cries and protests. City Hall is influenced by NCI, a private big money maker who hides under the name of servicing the immigrants. Most are probably illegals who are sucking money out of local government while invading the areas actually occupied by long time residents who live and work there. This is very sad for Houston citizens.

Name: Mozamm Baig on Jan 30, 2007Comments: I'm a moque member and I strongly oppose the closing of Rookin. Councilman Khan, as a Pakistan and a Moslem, I sincerely hope you could re-consider the effect this closing would have on our mosque on Tarnef. Particularly at mosque hours, we would have to hire several police officers to direct traffic if more traffic are diverted this way. This will be a nightmare for everyone on Tarnef Street.

Name: Lela Gardner on Mar 6, 2007Comments: We were told the "traffic study" was for 24 hours--only after I challenged it and advised I saw the black wire acrosse the street for 1 day. This is NOT an adequate time period to base this decision on.

Name: Anonymous on May 6, 2007Comments: I don't see what the big deal is, I think any upgrade and improvement is good for the area. Before this issue came up we had the hookers. Sometimes these kinds of things look like something bad but sometimes these are blessings in disguise. I think maybe if we embrace it and enjoy that our area is getting somekind of attention maybe the value of our properties will go up or it will be a more desireable place for renters. I think some open-mindness might do everyone some good.

Name: John on May 14, 2007Comments: You have to be a resident here to clearly see the potential effects Rookin closure would have on us local residents. It doesn't take a genius to figure out how much traffic would be diverted to the only next available street, Tarnef. As far as attention is concerned, it's not even the issue. They can build all they want but why close a public street that we are all using Not knowing what you are saying suggest you are either an outsider, or a paid employee of NCI, or a paid employee of a politician who is receiving money from NCI.

Name: Ignacio Partida on Sep 1, 2007Comments: NCI is operating in the name of "helping the hispanic community" but closing a public street is not right. They should not just go into an established community and do all they want, just because they've got money and bad politicians behind them.
