In our Canadian Parliament, Bill C-384 has been introduced that would legalize euthanasia and assisted suicide in Canada. This is not limited to persons with terminal illness but leaves this open to persons with depression and chronic mental conditions. We the undersigned are deeply opposed to Bill C-384 which seeks to legalize assisted suicide in Canada. To legalize assisted suicide would place large numbers of vulnerable people at risk – in particular those who are depressed, elderly or disabled and those who feel themselves to be under emotional or financial pressure to request early death. We believe that this bill is unnecessary, goes against Canadian values & endangers all Canadians. This Petition will be mailed (electronically & by post) on December 15, 2009 to Prime Minister Stephen Harper & Justice Minister Rob Nicholson .
