If our local politicians & government can't or won't stop this NOW, what good are they? Throw the bums outnext election.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Dec 17, 2010Comments: It's unconscionable that the government has allowed the Bay Park Sewage Treatment Plant to deteriorate so that the wellbeing of residents, fish & wildlife, and the wetlands are in serious jeopardy. Furthermore, that the residents of the area have not been notified that the discharges from the plant have not been properly treated and are dangerous to humans' & the environment's health is a serious criminal offense & leaves me with such utter contempt for the governmental officials involved in letting this occur.Flag

My husband and I currently live in East Rockaway only a few blocks from Bay Park and its plant. We have canal that flows through our back yard. It's more than important to us and our family that this situation be recognized and handled properly for the sake of our environment as well as our health. We all need to take part in helping expedite the necessary changes to rectify this awful problem.Flag

Name: Mary Olotka on May 30, 2011Comments: I attended the Dec 14th meeting in Point Lookout and I believe when the health department was asked if the waters were being tested they said no. Recently during the photo-op with Kate Murray in Point Lookout about the dredging being done I spoke with Ron Masters and said this is a bandaide on a broken leg. If Bay Park is not fixed this seaweed and stench will return. I asked why the waters weren't being tested and people told of the results. I also repeated what was said at the Dec. 14th meeting that the health officials said the waters were not being treated and I asked why? He said I didn't know what I was talking about. I replied you were at the same meeting and you know what they said. Agiain no reply and walked away.Flag
