There are two versions of the bill S.978 1 . To amend the criminal penalty provision for criminal infringement of a copyright, and for other purposes. 2 . To amend the criminal penalty provision for criminal infringement of a copyright, and for other purposes. Both are horrifyingly miss worded. This bill if passed will make it so that ANY video game, music, t.v., movie, etc. cannot be publicly displayed or preformed. The intentions of this are to stop people from stealing by watching or listening to music, movies, or t.v. shows. That in it self is wonderful, however the way it is worded makes it so lets plays, walk through videos, game play videos, people singing copyrighted music in videos, videos with copyrighted music in the background, etc. are all illegal; punishable by thousands of dollars in fines, or up to five years in jail. I'm sure many you have heard of E3 and watch it online and or on t.v. that too would be illegal, you would only be able to see it live. This bill obviously needs to be amended. by signing this you agree that it should be amended and that you believe that it should not be passed in its current form. If this bill were to pass entire businesses would shut down. More than half the internet (No exaggeration) would cease to exist. The economy would once again be in shambles. Many video games are promoted by videos made by very famous people with numerous viewers (IE: nintendocaprisun, chuggaaconroy, etc.) and the same with music, which make people want to buy the games. I myself do not buy a game unless in see a lets play of it, so that i do not waste my money on a game i do not like. I discovered my entire iTunes collection based on videos with music in them. These things are not bad, and that is why congress should be made aware of repercussions that this bill will bring about if passed.
