We did it!

Thank you to everyone who signed this petition.  At tonights council meeting, just after 10pm, Ku-ring-gai Council voted 7 to 3 to reinstate the ban on exotic animals in circuses.  We won!  It has taken three months, and over 5,000 signatures, but we did it.  And now, with the help of the RSPCA NSW, we are moving on to banning exotic animals in circuses throughout NSW.  Please check out our website soon for a copy of the petition.www.animalsasia.orgThanks again,Anne Lloyd-JonesAustralian DirectorAnimals Asia Foundation9 November 2010

Petition Presented!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to sign the petition and write a comment.  Last night 1306 signatures were presented at the Ku-ring-gai Council Meeting for consideration and although no debate or discussion were permitted under council guidelines, Steve Coleman, CEO of the RSPCA NSW, addressed the meeting and made it perfectly clear that even in situations where minimum animal welfare standards are being met, circus life cannot meet the social, behavioural or physical needs of wild animals. Please continue to add your names and comments and share the petition with friends and associates.  We are confident that one day soon, all of New South Wales and eventually Australia, will have a ban on animals in circuses.Best wishes,Anne Lloyd-JonesAustralian Director Animals Asia Foundation
