Name: Jeannie Striegel on Apr 20, 2006Comments: Circuses that exploit and abuse animals should not be considered entertainment, much less "family entertainment." There are so many quality acts and performers to bring to the UI Assembly Hall, why taint your reputation with the stain of a circus where animals are starved and abused to get a laugh or applause from the audience Please reconsider your stance and stand up for those who have no choice and are chained to a life of pain and deprivation.Flag

Name: Jim Halle on Apr 20, 2006Comments: Let's support and encourage people to see animals in their natural habitat engaging in their natural behavior. Such an experience would be a far better education. Perhaps, this is an appropriate purpose for television.Flag

Name: Christina Whitted on Apr 20, 2006Comments: It is not appropriate for a respected institution of higher education to sponsor an act which glorifies the mistreatment of animals. We can and should bring any number of other "family shows" to Assembly Hall which do not include animals kept in painful conditions of restraint. As a U of I graduate and faculty member, I am ashamed that so many people who know so much better are putting this show forward as appropriate for kids.Flag

Name: Evette Vlach on Apr 21, 2006Comments: Ever since I can remember, circuses has given me an uneasy sad feeling when I think about the way the animals are treated and dragged around the country just to amuse people for a short moment. I do not think that circuses encourage our youth to have respect for animals and their natural environment, which is where the animals truly belong, regardless of their learning abilities and tremendous skill. Their true skill lies in the way they survive in their natural environment and they should be kept as close to their roots as possible.Flag
