Every 1 in 6 children is a child laborer, and 61 million children in Africa are in child labour. Child labour is defined as work that’s harmful to a child’s physical and mental development. One in seven children is exposed to this kind of labour. They are often put in danger too. Every year, 22,000 children die from accidents related to their work. And that doesn't say anything about the mental and emotional harm of being forced to work long, hard hours or experiencing things that no person should.The cause of child labour is a lack of income in the family, illiterate parents who don’t understand the need for education and a lack of education. This causes the children to begin to steal goods to continue to help provide to their families.
