Comments: I have been a caravanner for about 30 years ,and to put a road tax on caravans is the most stupid thing I have ever heard., but lets face it,the govermment can only come up with stupid things,I have never known them to come up with anything sensible yet.

Comments: Gordon Brown ,This, the caravan tax, is the most outragious stealth tax yet and I have now heard that you and your cronies are also thinking of taxing landladies of guest houses. The 'bed tax ' .... How could this party have sunk so low so low as to have to tax the holidaymaker. We put you and your party members in power to save us from the lunatic thoughts of the Tories.... Blair was a out and out liar and you are as bad. There is a growing feeling of rebellion in the air. Remember the poll tax and the pension funds you robbed. I have bought a caravan and I'm off to Spain , just like the 120,000 others that you and the others you haved forced outthis country so stick your tax up yuor arse Dave

Comments: The total mileage an average touring caravan covers in a year must be less than 1500 miles as most of the time it is static. Will this tax be rigorously applied to" travellers" or just to the easy targets as usual.

Comments: Just when you thought there was nothing left to tax, it makes me want to weep. It takes me a couple of hours to get where I’m going, then I’m static and a couple of hours to get home. And now I’m going to be taxed for staying in England, spending my money, not using air miles, your taxed if you do and taxed if you don’t. What about Gypsies, Travellers will they have to pay

Comments: A tax on caravans will in turn slow down the number of people continuing with caravanning holidays. Obviously this in turn will affect caravan manufacturers, camp site owners, UK tourism in general. More people will go abroad - flying - which will not be good for the environment - if you are going to get taxed on holidays then you might as well go somewhere warm for it!

Comments: we use our caravan almost all year round, as pensioners we already are taxed heavily on our tow car, now the caravan tax. This is our only pleasure, and having served a lifetime as a Civil Servant serving HM Government, this is a blow very much below the belt. We have worked hard for our pleasure, and now we shall be priced off the road.
