| 3754 | Anonymous | I doubt that these actors, directors, writers, etc would think it's funny if they had a child who is "retarded". Now it's one more thing to worry about, as my son is about to start school. He cannot speak/communicate and is wheelchair bound. It is heart breaking to realize that my son might get bullied...actually I cannot understand why anyone would bully such a child (well, any child, really). It is upsetting to know that yes, there are people out there who hate kids with disabilities. http://www.myhateblog.com/2007/11/30/i-hate-retards-and-autistic-children/
Thank you for your petition and for the time you are taking to address this. |

Allison Carter | I am a mother of a wonderful, special 12 year old daughter born with Down Syndrome. Heather enters middle school this year and I am extremely concerned how she will be treated by kids who have seen this movie and feel it is acceptable or funny to label someone a "retard". Shame on the actors in this movie that think it's no big deal and they didn't mean any harm. What if it were their children on the receiving end of the fallout caused by this movie?
paul sorensen | as this is what is only nice and decent, for those it causes pain, I vow to abide this petition - paul sorensen
Steve McKinney | No excuse for making such a movie. I will vote my displeasure with my pocketbook with this movie and your future movies

carla smith | The R word is equally as offensive as the N word; only towards a different group of people. It hurts the people that mostly can't fight back. A more appropriate term would be developmentally disabled or mentally handicapped. I'm sure if a movie came out with the N word all over it, then there would be civil rights advocates signing the same kind of petitions. My son is developmentally disabled and fortunately he doesn't understand how much people use this awful word inapropriately and as an insult, but I do. It hurts.
Ignacio Alvarez | My grandchald has downs my heart go out to all of you, but as for our family, Elias is a blessing from God that has restore values and realities but most of all love, understanding, and peace..GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS..........
Johnnie Stidham | As an aunt of two nephews with special needs, I am sadden about how low Hollywood has come to make a few dollars. This is a slap in the face to all who have special needs and those who are the parents and teachers. Everyone involve with this so-called comedy should be ashamed. Walk a mile in my nephews' shoes and you will never use that term again.
Anonymous | Everyone wants us to be politically correct. But when it comes to children with Downs Syndrome or something else, anything goes. You should be ashamed. We speak out on behalf of our grandchild who was Downs.

Beverly Brimer | This is one of the most insensitive acts that has come out of the movie industry in a long time, (and there have been many). Why is it that no one is supposed to say anything to offend homosexuals, certain races or certain political figures, but it is OK to offend persons with disabilities, conservative/family values people or Christians. Believe it or not we are people too. Those of you who preach "tolerance" are the biggest bunch of liars on the face of the earth. You are only "tolerant" to those who tend to be like you. THAT is Not Tolerance - and Yes I AM SHOUTING! You are all a bunch of insensitive, inconsiderate, ignorant hypocrits.

Debbie Bruening | You had a great thing going with humor and then spoiled it for a segment that downgraded a member of society that cannot defend themselves - poor taste!
Megan Siana |
Marilyn Sullivan | The film was so vulgar & insulting, I left after a half hr. Can't these top stars create something without filth? No wonder the Muslim World wants to destroy Hollywood! This film is a good reason why! Such garbage. And children in the audience, too!

Kim Bainbridge | I have a 19 year old son with Down Syndrome and I still cannot say the "r" word out loud. When I hear someone using that word it is like driving a knive in my heart. My other two children, ages 21 and 16, and none of their friends have ever been allowed to use that word around me.

Stephanie Rosa | It is just cruel how we try so hard for people to stop using this "word" but now we have to see it on tv one day.
Lori Olson White | Unintentional insensitivity is one thing, scripted insensitivy included simply for a laugh and larger box office draw is another. Shame on you all.
