The current Middle East situation is horrible. What can we do?
From everywhere in the world, we, brothers and sisters of the same human family, can join our voices to say: we call for an immediate cease-fire. Violence will never solve the problems of the Middle East.
An ocean is made up of millions of drops of water. Let us all be drops of water and together we can help make the difference.
Please take a moment to sign this petition which we, members of Solidarite Palestine, will present to Mr Kofi Annan, UN Secretary General.

To: Mr Kofi Annan, UN Secretary General
Dear Sir
“Killing innocent civilians is NOT an act of self defense”.
Already, more than 900 civilians have been killed and thousands wounded and maimed by the Israeli Army in Beirut, Lebanon. Many among the victims are children.
We, members of Solidarité Palestine, unreservedly condemn these massacres while strongly denouncing the blind violence terrorizing populations in the Middle East. In the name of our respective faiths, we also condemn this human madness which consists of killing innocents and perversely presenting it as ‘collateral damage’.
We urge you to insist on an immediate cease-fire within the scope of the UN so as to end those massacres. Nothing can condone the killing of innocents by armies or armed groups. We would like to remind that violence will never solve the problems of peoples in the Middle East.
We urge you to appeal to all parties, including those countries supporting the warring parties, to show some humanity and compassion, by returning to the negotiating table in order to find, at the earliest, solutions to the conflict.
We would like to remind that we support Israeli and Palestinian groups as well as any man or woman of goodwill working to re-open the road to dialogue in an atmosphere of mutual respect. We hereby reaffirm our determination to back and support any initiative that you may take to halt the violence and resolve the conflict in a non-violent way.

“Tuer des civils innocents ne peut être un acte d’auto défense’’.
A ce jour, plus de 900 civils libanais ont été tués et des milliers d’autres blessés et mutilés, dont des enfants, par l’armée israélienne à Beyrouth, au Liban.
Nous, membres de Solidarité Palestine, nous condamnons sans réserve ces massacres tout en dénonçant vivement la violence aveugle dont sont victimes les peuples du Moyen Orient. Au nom de nos fois respectives, nous condamnons également la folie des humains qui conduit à tuer des innocents en présentant cela perversement comme des effets collatéraux.
Nous vous demandons instamment d’exiger un cessez-le-feu immédiat dans le cadre des Nations Unies pour mettre fin à ces tueries. Rien ne justifie l’assassinat d’innocents par des armées ou des groupes armées. Nous rappelons que la violence ne résoudra jamais les problèmes auxquels font face les peuples du Moyen Orient.
Nous vous demandons de faire un appel aux parties en conflit, y compris les pays qui soutiennent ces parties, à faire preuve d’humanité et de compassion, en revenant vers le chemin du dialogue pour trouver, le plus rapidement possible, des solutions au conflit.
Nous tenons à souligner que nous apportons notre soutien aux groupes israéliens et palestiniens ainsi qu’à tout homme et femme de bonne volonté militant pour le chemin du dialogue dans un climat de respect mutuel. Nous réaffirmons ici notre volonté d’appuyer et de soutenir toute initiative que vous pourrez prendre pour mettre un terme aux actes de violence et résoudre de manière non-violente le conflit.

Solidarite Palestine, a duly registered non-governmental association consisting of Mauritians of different faiths and backgrounds, has the following objectives:
(1) To create awareness of the situation in
Palestine/Israel
(2) To hold regular fund raising activities
to improve the living standards of
children and the population at large in
Palestine
(3) To promote the use of non-violent
conflict resolution techniques to help
end violence, hatred and discrimination
in Palestine/Israel
(4) To create and strengthen, through the
solidarity activities described above,
the bridges of understanding between
the different communities in the
Republic of Mauritius. |
