Many small groups and organizations in the Waterloo Region have relied on the Zehrs Save-A-Tape for funding. These groups and organizations don't have to put out any money to get the funding, they just have to collect receipts from any Zehrs Market store. It takes a minimum of $10,000 of tapes to be submitted. It a mere $1 for every $450 submitted. Zehrs have tried to end this program quietly with out any notification to the public. It wasn't until it made front page news at the KW Record newspaper that Zehrs made an official statement and moved the deadline to end the program at the end of 2013. This petition will be delivered to Zehrs head office asking for them to reconsider ending the Save-A-Tape program.
Two of the organizations that have helped us have used this program. Our daughter has Autism and KidsAblility and National Service Dogs have helped us greatly.
This program helps small not-for-profit groups in communities across Canada. We depend on the donations from Zehrs to help run the girl guide units across the country. Withdrawing this program will be devasating to many small volunteer groups in Canada.
I think this program really helps small groups like ours. That don't receive any outside money from anywhere.
