Hi my name is Taniqua i attend Richards Career Academy just recently i was suspended for wearing jeans and 'boot-like house shoes" our daily uniform is our richards shirt , black pants and gym shoes even though i knew i was wrong i believe suspending someone for it is a little over the top i was told to sit in a room from 8:30 till 4:00 and if i wanted to leave i was to be escorted and for lunch we had to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich we couldnt eat what the other students ate. I take my chool work very seriously so ever hour i sat in the room i lost a lesson that i could have been learning not to mention my grade goes down dramatically! I am a good student i everyday i come to school i strive for the best! I belive their is things the school board can do to change the policy if a student is out of uniform on the 1st offense: they should give a verbal warning and give you other clothes to put on. 2nd offense: Lunch or after-school detention and loss of privledges till the end of the year 3rd offense :in-school suspension, call home and/or parent conference. if you agree with this method please sign your name in thank you:)
