   Comments: We listened to Diary of a Part-Time Indian on aiuodbook summer before last while driving through reservation in Arizona. At the time, the kids were 9 & 12, and they found some of the language and topics embarrassing. Nevertheless, it was funny, brilliant, and spoke to the truth about the life of a teen boy on a reservation.

    Comments: I don't like the idea of banning books unsles they incite violence or are just overall not conducive to education (I wouldn't want Mein Kampf in schools). Instead of banning older books that may contain racial slurs or derogatory language, teachers should use that as an opportunity to teach kids about civil rights and how far as a nation we have come. Explain that people back in the day were very vocal in their dislike of other races, religions, etc but now we are more accepting and for the most part don't hold those views today.

    Comments: Yes I agree with this article coeemltply.Sensationalism is what opportunists and media savy people do when they want to bring attention to themselves and make lots of money. At the risk of being struck by lightening I would have to include a few other icons in this catagory. Like Oprah.The Clintons. Brad and Angelina. To me, the positive thing about them is their politics are more centered around Diplomacy rather than violence. To me that's huge.
